HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR DAY 2022

State of Israel's Celebrations

The State of Israel celebrated Holocaust Survivors with two historic events on June 26 & 27 in honor of Holocaust Survivor Day . About 1,800 survivors participated in the events at Bet Lohamei Hagettaot, the Ghetto Fighter's Museum and Habima, Israel's National Theater in the presence of a broad swath of Israeli leaders and dignitaries. Thank you to the Centers Organization for Holocaust Survivors in Israel and World Zionist Organization for planning the events.

United States of America's Celebrations

Below, we have examples of events communities threw for their survivors in 2023.

Cleveland Jewish Community

Jewish Family Services Association hosted a Senior Prom for survivors in Cleveland. Held at Green Road Synagogue, a temple founded by survivors, the survivors were able to dance the afternoon away to a live band. Seniors dressed up, exchanged corsages, received gift bags and even had a photo booth to capture their memories in.

Palm Beach Jewish Community

Alpert Jewish Family Services hosted a formal luncheon for their survivors and their families, with speeches from important pillars in the Palm Beach community. Alper JFS even invited the Vice-Mayor of Palm Beach County to the event, where he decreed Holocaust Survivor Day as an official holiday. They even went so far as to present each survivor with official HSD coins, that they hand delivered to each Holocaust survivor's home.

We can share the designs of the Palm Beach Holocaust Survivor Day coins upon request.
